So when your child took the apple to their teacher, did she
like it very much? I'd guess not very much, right? What
about turning it into a chocolate covered apple instead?
Now we're talking. Add some candy toppings or sprinkles and
Mrs. Brown will have a yummy snack while reading over your
child's paper. Teachers are true national heroes and often
underappreciated. No matter what country you're from,
without teachers where would we be? They work hard before,
during and after classes to make sure our children have the
best tools possible in order to succeed and often times
don't get the credit they deserve. Now here's your moment!

What are some gifts that will "get the grades"?

Many gifts can become expensive and it's uncertain whether
the teachers will like them. How about gifts that are
economical and will bring smiles? Many gourmet sweets or
candy gifts are easy to make and don't cost much. They're
delicious and look good too. There are a lot of easy
recipes for homemade candy and desserts to pick from.

So what are some great tasting dessert gifts that are easy
to create?

Two of my favorites are chocolate covered fruits and a
variety of cupcake flavors. There are many chocolate
covered recipes that make good gifts from chocolate covered
strawberries or apples to coffee beans and different nuts.
The technique of chocolate covering is pretty simple
involving some high quality chocolate and either a double
boiler or just a microwave. Some great tasting nuts to use
in these recipes are pecans or almonds. Coffee or espresso
beans are tasty options to use too. Pack your candy gifts
in decorative boxes and place them in plastic gift bags,
and keep gifts cold right before delivery.

There is an endless variety of cupcake flavors and you can
spread frosting on top and decorate them. You can stir in
pieces of strawberries, peaches, other fruits and nuts, or
even make small versions of bigger types of cakes such as
red velvet cake or upside down pineapple cake. You can make
the music teacher Mr. Smith many of the same kind or create
a few batches and combine the flavors to give several
different teachers multi-flavored batches. My suggestion
would be at least two different flavors, chocolate cupcakes
of some kind and some fruit flavors: try triple chocolate
and vanilla rainbow cupcakes. Add your choice of toppings
and pack them in a sealed plastic container. Find some
pretty wrapping paper and keep cool for as long as possible.

There are just a few suppllies required to make these
gifts, but the gifts will bring lots of smiles to these
national treasures, our teachers. Make them feel special
and show appreciation for their hard work and assistance in
our chidren's scholar successes. It's time we return our
teachers the favor!
