In Europe, especially France Wine is considered to be a
daily activity that even children are allowed to partake in
but watered down of course. Food and wine are very much
complimentary to each other and really enhance and prop the
entrees delightfully.
According to science studies red wine has been known to
prevent heart diseases too. On a positive note alcohol
actively raises the level of high-density lipoproteins
(HDL) which is the substance in the blood that actively
removes cholesterol. Arteries in effect to this process
have lesser chance of clogging up to prevent heart attacks.
However these health advantages can only take place if the
alcohol is consumed in moderation. An average on what
moderation consistency is would be 1-2 drinks a day for a
man and one for a woman. Also letting your body rest for a
couple of days is also recommended too. I feel a bit of the
opposite on what health professionals say. I feel that 1-2
days a week could consist of 1-2 drinks and then the rest
of week be alcohol free.
The healthy part of alcohol, especially red wine and why it
assists with our arteries is the level of polyphenols.
Polyphenols are a natural antioxidant which also assists in
repairing the free radical damage in the body. Foods that
is naturally rich in this Wonderful assister of our health
are; apples, blackberries, blueberries, cantaloupe,
cherries, cranberries, grapes, pears, plums, raspberries,
and strawberries. Also some vegetables like broccoli,
onions, celery, and parsley. Red wine, chocolate, green
tea, olive oil, bee pollen, and many grains are rich in
this too. My favorite treat is the no sugar added
cranberry grape juice which I feel repairs my body. I like
my red wine too but only in moderation.
The negative effects alcohol can have are depression,
memory loss, liver disease, digestive disorders, nerve
damage, mouth and throat cancer, and heart disease. These
are the negative effects on the body but not on the people
around you like friends, family, and deep relationships.
In conclusion, we all drink a little as it is fun to share
with friends and/or family a little cheer. However, you
really need a healthy scare as what it can do to your body
over time with excessive drinking. In moderation and
respect it is healthy but to a degree can be detrimental to
ourselves and others. Just remember polyphenols come from
many sources and enjoy them all!!!
Bee Well!
